@bps_artish when I was a kid we unofficially borrowed a lot of sugar beets from the nearby field, sliced it and cooked in a lot of water on low temp, and then tried to dry it (on the sun). It was suprisingly ineffective, resulted a few spoons of brown sugar. Felt good though. ;-)
